I rented an RV from Cruise America through Neligon's and had the worst rental experience of my life. In short, I was required to pay a security deposit of $500 to be refunded upon return of the RV, which seemed normal. Several days after returning the unit I was refunded $66 without an explanation of why they were keeping over $400 of the security deposit. When I inquired with the company I was told that they would look into it. Several days later I was told that I had erroneously been charged ~$350 for use of the generator (which I hadn't used at all and had requested that they turn off prior to my departure). At this point I was able to get a receipt, which also showed $77 in fees for gas (which I had filled immediately prior to returning the unit), propane (which I had the manager turn off prior to my departure and had not used) and dumping (which seemed unnecessary as we had not used the shower, sink or toilet on our short trip).
Poor customer service experience. "Not my problem" attitude.
The crew at Neligon's is top-rate. Scheduling is done promptly, work is done professionally, and the quality of work is worth the (very reasonable) cost. We have been taking our cars there for about 15 years, and we will continue to do so.
Several weeks later I was able to get most of my deposit refunded with a note from Cruise America that they would look into the matter. I have never written a review before but felt compelled to in this case because I've never received such dishonest and appalling customer service. I will never do business with this company again. Perhaps it was a series of honest mistakes, but if I hadn't said anything I'm sure they would have happily kept the rest of the security deposit.
